About The Position

Plan, provide and coordinate nursing services in the operating room and pre/post-op unit. Day shift position cross-trained in areas of surgery. Some rotating on-call hours required. $10,000 bonus over 2 years available.

Requirements

Graduate of accredited school of nursing
Current Nebraska Registered Nurse licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS)

Nice To Haves

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred or willing to obtain
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred or willing to obtain
Prior operating room experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Provides safe, knowledgeable, individualized nursing care to patients in the operating and recovery room by adhering to quality and safety standards.
Completes patient assessments and provides care with frequent and careful observation of patients under the influence of anesthesia.
Ability to prepare operating room, check supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
Assists surgeon by anticipating needs for instruments and supplies.
Accountable for delivery of medications in accordance with physician orders.
Follows procedures for surgery and sterilization.
Initiates patient care in an effective and responsive manner as each situation requires in accordance with patient population type which range from pediatrics to geriatrics.
Documents accurate and ongoing assessments of patient status that reflect nursing interventions, patient responses, patient teaching and status at discharge.
Demonstrates good judgment, good decisions and discretion in thinking through situations.
Seeks opportunities for continued growth and performance improvement.
Serve as positive role model and clinical resource.
Maintains knowledge of department operations through attendance at department meetings and educational opportunities.
Utilize effective, appropriate, and timely communication skills.
Flexibility and willingness to assist with other tasks within department as assigned
