About The Position

The Circulation Supervisor at Library Systems and Services (LS&S) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the library’s circulation services, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations. This position supervises circulation staff, manages scheduling, and ensures the accurate handling of library materials, including check-ins, check-outs, renewals, and fines. The Circulation Supervisor will also train and mentor staff, resolve patron inquiries and issues, and maintain circulation records and reports. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service to library patrons and supporting a welcoming, well-organized environment.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3 years customer service experience preferred.
  • 1 year supervisory experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with library systems and databases.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Mulitlingual speaking is a plus.
  • A high degree of proficiency in MS Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work a regular schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service to patrons by greeting and assisting patrons in all areas of the library.
  • Supervise junior Library Associates which includes managing performance, evaluation, interview/hiring, training and approving timesheets.
  • Work closely with Librarians and library management to plan, implement and promote programming activities.
  • Processes newly acquired library materials, including all identifying stamps, labels, RIDF and covers.
  • Inform library patrons of rules of conduct as necessary, and enforce those rules when appropriate.
  • Maintain circulation records and performs routine circulation duties as needed.
  • Assist with library opening and closing procedures.
  • Support reference desks in assisting patrons with questions.
  • Effective listening and problem-solving skills, excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to embrace change, along with the ability to strategize.
  • Follow all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and custodianship of patron records.
  • Other duties as assigned.
