About The Position

The EKS Library Student Assistant position is responsible for supporting the Ethel K. Smith Library in providing excellent customer service at all library service desks and providing support to all EKS facility staff, including other departments located within the library facility. Students will perform all job responsibilities listed below. Students will provide direct support to the Director of the Library, Collection Management Librarian, Research & Instruction Librarians, and Evening Facilities Manager. This position must adhere to all privacy laws and university policies. EKS student employees must have, or obtain within their first two weeks of work, certification for the Library of Congress Call Number System. Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service at all library service desks
  • Resolve routine customer service issues, routing complicated issues to the appropriate EKS staff member as needed
  • Process requests and communicate with requestors as needed regarding Reserves, InterLibrary Loans, and EKS inventory
  • Sort and deliver mail to appropriate personnel within the EKS facility
  • Maintain statistical logs daily
  • Assist in processing forms and petitions
  • Communicating with students and faculty as needed
  • Assistance with special projects, testing, training, and events
  • Other duties as assigned
