About The Position

Sonic Systems International is seeking a skilled Low to Medium Voltage Circuit Breaker Maintenance Technician to support operations primarily based at the GE Vernova Hitachi facility in Philadelphia, PA. This is a full-time, non-union contract position offering primarily first-shift hours. Candidates should be available for potential weekend work and/or travel, which may range from short-duration trips to multi-week field assignments, depending on project requirements. This role focuses on the mechanical and electrical servicing of low and medium voltage circuit breakers and related equipment in both shop and field environments. Ideal candidates will have a solid mechanical background, a strong safety mindset, and the flexibility to support field work as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be an American citizen or authorized to work in United States.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to correctly use tools and testing equipment including but not limited to insulation resistance test set, low resistance test set, digital multimeter, dielectric test set, primary & secondary injection set, timing and velocity test set, and power factor test set.
  • Must have 2+ years of low and medium voltage switchgear and circuit breaker experience; or 2+ years of mechanical experience in an industrial, production or large component environment.
  • Ability to read and understand one-line diagrams, blueprints, schematics and construction drawings.
  • Must possess a strong mechanical & electrical aptitude.
  • Strong mechanical skills and proficiency with hand tools such as sockets, wrenches.
  • Familiarity with basic electrical testing procedures and equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Having electro-mechanical training from trade school, apprenticeship or armed services is highly desirable.
  • Ability to travel and gain unescorted access to nuclear power generating stations
  • Qualified to operate a forklift
  • Qualified to operate an overhead crane
  • Experienced with GE type low and medium voltage circuit breakers and switch gear
  • Experienced with GE type EC trip devices
  • Experienced working in a regulated environment
  • Nuclear Safety Culture Experience
  • Prior NFPA70E training
  • Prior OSHA 10 training or higher
  • Lock-out Tag-out qualified

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, disassemble, clean, repair, and reassemble low and medium voltage circuit breakers (air, vacuum, molded case)
  • Perform electrical testing (e.g., insulation resistance, contact resistance, timing)
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical operating mechanisms and components
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Maintain accurate service records and job documentation
  • Adhere to all safety policies, PPE requirements, and site-specific procedures
  • Travel as needed, including weekend and extended field assignments
