About The Position

A Quality Engineer I is responsible for the collection and analysis of in process, test, and field data. The Quality Engineer I will help develop and maintain all companywide statistical quality control functions as well as support problem solving and continuous improvements efforts, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Prior quality assurance experience is required (comparable role such as Quality Control, Leader, Foreperson, Supervisor)
  • Familiarity with: PFMEA, Control Plans, and Flow Charting AIAG requirements
  • Familiarity with: Basic types of control charts (IMR, X Bar R)
  • Familiarity with: Process capability and MSA theory
  • Familiarity with: Statistics (Descriptive, inferential, basic sample size calculations) and statistics software (using basic graphing and calculation functions)
  • Familiarity with: Microsoft Office (Using standard functions in Word, Power Point, Project, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions (using data from simple data sets, and Fishbone, 5 why)
  • Working knowledge of Project Management practices and tools to lead projects
  • Ability to accurately document work instructions/lab reports, and communicate results
  • Ability to read drawings and specifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills; a team player with proven ability to work across functional areas and all levels of the organization
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an engineering, scientific, statistics, or mathematics discipline, preferred
  • Equivalent level of education, training and experience may be considered
  • 1-4 Years Quality Engineering experience, preferred
  • Working knowledge of: Basic control charts (IMR, XbarR, SbarR)
  • Working knowledge of: Process Capability (Basics of Cpk, Ppk)
  • Working knowledge of: MSA studies
  • Working knowledge of: Lean Manufacturing concepts (5s, Standard Work, VSM)
  • Prior internal auditing experience

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and CI to identify potential quality problems. Gather and analyze data to investigate product quality issues, determine the root cause, and implement corrective actions to eliminate or reduce the cause.
  • Assist in the development of flow charts, FMEA’s, and control plans for all processes.
  • Support short and long term process capability analysis and apply basic process control methods to various types of processes (IMR, XBAR-R) by using basic statistical methods to diagnose and solve problems.
  • Support the audit process, quality systems initiatives, and COPQ.
  • Conduct Warranty/Product Safety/Capability analysis and trending.
  • Create compliance analysis, trending, and reporting.
  • Perform basic MSA studies and prepare basic uncertainty budgets.
  • Participate in cross functional problem solving and Six Sigma teams.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining warranty, product safety, industrial statistics, trending, sampling, MSA, tolerancing, critical characteristics, and FMEA, policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required by quality management
  • Responsible for producing a high quality product.
  • Responsible for proper hygiene, housekeeping, and safety practices.
