About The Position

The Chubb Associate Program (CAP) is a two-year experience designed to support the well-rounded development of critical business skills, contributing to the company's future success. The program includes hands-on business assignments in various disciplines, interactive classroom instruction, team assignments, and direct interaction with early career professionals, experienced professionals, and leaders. CAP utilizes a blended curriculum of classroom training, webinars, online self-study, on-the-job learning, group projects, mentoring, and networking. Associates will receive challenging assignments, collaborative learning opportunities, technical training, interpersonal effectiveness skill development, executive engagement, peer mentoring support, and a pathway to leadership development and global assignments. From day one, associates will play an active role by developing new ideas, gaining exposure to new business opportunities, and providing service to an existing renewal portfolio. Success in the program requires cultivating strong relationships with brokers and interfacing with them to develop winning solutions, utilizing analytical abilities to help Chubb grow profitably and reach business targets.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and underwrite risks related to mergers and acquisitions (M&A), primarily focused on representations and warranties insurance.
  • Assess unique risks associated with each transaction, determine if they align with Chubb’s underwriting criteria, and decide whether to approve, decline, or negotiate the terms of coverage.
  • Analyze complex deal structures, review financial statements, confidential information memorandums, and legal documentation (such as purchase agreements and disclosure schedules), and identify key exposures.
  • Manage a portfolio of deals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external brokers, M&A advisors, legal counsel, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence—reviewing financial statements, legal documents, and risk factors—to evaluate whether the risk is acceptable.
  • Collaborate with internal experts, including legal, claims, and actuarial teams, to develop tailored policy wording and pricing.
  • Negotiate terms and market solutions to brokers and clients, aiming to secure new business and retain existing relationships.
  • Assist with NDA reviews, file management, underwriting counsel liaison, providing live deal support to senior underwriters, and collaborating with the operations department to ensure local systems logging.
  • Learn the foundations of financial accounting within the insurance industry and contribute to short and long-term projects.
  • Rotate within the 4 main areas of Finance: Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Tax, and Financial Reporting.
  • Assist with daily treasury and cash management functions, including review of daily bank balances, preparing cheque control registers, and making daily bank deposits.
  • Prepare daily, monthly and quarterly journal entries to support both the treasury and financial reporting teams.
  • Forecast revenue growth, expense management, and overall Profit & Loss by business segment.
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations for accounts associated with Chubb Insurance Company of Canada, as well as its various affiliates.
  • Manage the Company’s six-week cash forecast.
  • Assist in Premium, Expense and Profitability Budget preparation, coordination, ongoing monitoring and control.
  • Other project work as required.
