About The Position

The Christmas Driver transports Christmas gifts and donations by truck and/or van between malls, homes, agencies, churches, and other designated locations and the Christmas warehouse. The role also assists with Christmas warehouse and center work as requested, including setting up and dismantling seasonal displays. The driver must operate vehicles in accordance with Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations and maintain the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• At least two years of driving experience, unless an equivalent combination of training and experience provides the required qualifications.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Ability to operate commercial equipment.
• Ability to perform continuous stooping, standing, and climbing, and to lift, carry, and/or push or pull moderate (25–50 lb) and possibly heavy (50–100 lb) materials and donations.
• Ability to perform the physical work required for the duties.

Responsibilities

• Drive trucks to and from malls to pick up gifts and deliver them to the Christmas warehouse.
• Organize pickup schedules using the most direct routes and arrive at destinations according to schedule.
• Drive to homes, agencies, churches, and other designated locations to collect gifts, stockings, and related donations for delivery to the Christmas warehouse.
• Load and unload gifts, stockings, and other Christmas donations between the vehicle and warehouse.
• Operate trucks and/or vans in compliance with Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations.
• Ensure the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times.
• Assist with work at the Christmas warehouse and center as requested.
• Set up trees, tables, and stands for Christmas displays and dismantle them at the end of the Christmas season.
