About The Position

The Christmas Ambassador (Bell Ringer) serves as a friendly, positive representative of The Salvation Army at approved locations. The role stands beside a kettle stand, rings a bell to indicate The Salvation Army’s presence, greets customers, and collects monetary donations. Employees are expected to uphold The Salvation Army’s mission and public image, and to serve community members with dignity and respect.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old.
If working in the vicinity of children, complete a criminal background check and certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
Be neatly groomed.
Be friendly, respectful, honest, and punctual.
Understand the mission and purpose of the Christmas Kettle Program.
Be able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment.
Possess good relationship skills.
Be able to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously; grasp, push, and pull objects; reach overhead; operate a computer, fax, and telephone; and lift up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

Arrive on time at the assigned location.
Stand at the kettle stand and ring the bell.
Wear identification provided by The Salvation Army, such as an ID badge or logo-printed attire.
Record daily hours worked on the time slip, including lunch breaks.
Greet customers in a friendly manner and offer appropriate seasonal greetings or thanks.
Notify the Kettle Coordinator as soon as possible if unable to report to work or if availability changes.
Avoid eating, drinking, using a phone, or being under the influence of a controlled substance while working.
Keep the work area clean.
Perform other assignments and duties as directed.
Conduct oneself on and off the job in a manner that supports The Salvation Army’s religious goals, programs, and public image.
