About The Position
Precision Tank, LLC seeks a Chop Gun/Gel Coat Operator at their production plant in Humboldt, IA. This position is application-focused and specializes in spray application. Duties include operating composite chop gun & gel coat machines to manufacture multi-layer composite tanks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and 18 months of fiberglass production experience; OR 24 months of fiberglass production experience with no education requirement.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with frequent lifting of up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to read & comprehend correspondence/instructions
- Perform basic reading, writing, & math
- Solve routine problems
Responsibilities
- Operate composite chop gun & gel coat machines to manufacture multi-layer composite tanks
- Apply chemical veil, chop, & gel coat to specification
- Apply mold release agent when needed
- Verify equipment readiness, including glass-lined equipment, & ensure adequate supply of raw materials
- Maintain proper resin and hardener mix
- Control thickness at all stages, especially careful at flange to ensure proper fit
- Assist in attaching bottom to tank shell after shell completion
- Remove completed parts using cranes
- Perform hand lay-up operations as required
- Complete quality and regulatory documentation
- Maintain clean work area
- Perform related duties as assigned
