About The Position
The Lansing School District is seeking new music teachers to provide world-class instruction to over 10,000 PreK-12 students in Lansing, MI. This role will focus on .5 FTE Choir and .5 FTE Visual and Performing Arts (Elective). The ideal candidate will ensure students receive specialized instruction in a safe and welcoming environment, fostering inclusive, nurturing classrooms that encourage collaboration and student individuality. The teacher will work with colleagues, parents, and students to deliver an excellent educational experience, aligning with the district's mission.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education or in music practice
- Previous experience working with children
- Alignment with Lansing School District's mission and values
- JX certification
Nice To Haves
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a specialty endorsement (i.e. JX, JQ)
- Previous teaching experience in an urban setting
- Training in CRPBIS and other related instructional methodologies
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate passion for and expertise of music
- Use data to guide and effectively differentiate instruction
- Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development sessions
- Build relationships with students and parents to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment
- Other duties as assigned to best support the Lansing School District mission
