About The Position

Dandelion Chocolate is seeking a positive, detail-oriented Factory Assistant to ensure the high quality of their bean-to-bar chocolate. This role involves performing final quality checks, hand-wrapping chocolate bars, prepping molds, feeding molds into the tempering line, and packing ground chocolate. The assistant will work with a team of passionate chocolate makers in a dynamic environment, contributing to seamless operations and continuous improvement. The position can be full-time or part-time, with a starting wage of $25/hour.

Requirements

  • Availability for part-time or full-time role with weekends required.
  • Ability to work shifts from 7am-3:30pm.
  • Previous experience working in a kitchen is a plus, including hand washing, labeling and dating finished products, and working thoughtfully around others.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, walking, and standing throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

  • Follow food production environment protocols and guidelines, including food safety and hygiene best practices, wearing appropriate attire, and adhering to safety SOPs.
  • Report any potential equipment malfunctions to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and be a welcoming presence for visiting guests, answering questions and offering hospitality.
  • Operate the wrapping machine to foil and wrap chocolate bars, checking quality according to best practices.
  • Weigh and pack ground chocolate into bags and boxes, using the internal lot tracking system to correctly label products.
  • Pass finished chocolate through X-ray and metal detector equipment for quality control.
  • Keep the tempering line supplied with chocolate molds and check chocolate bars for quality defects.
  • Load chocolate blocks into the chocolate grinder and scoop beans into optical and vibratory sorters to meet daily production goals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free production area, including thorough cleaning of chocolate-processing areas.
  • Inventory and organize supplies at the end of each day.
  • Wash dishes and tools using the industrial dishwasher and ensure proper storage of cleaning solutions.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries from the loading dock, keeping walkways clear and safe.
  • Taste and evaluate chocolate samples to provide data for chocolate makers.
  • Proactively ask for other tasks when experiencing downtime and comply with company policies and service procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary.
