About The Position

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a ‘Service Delivery Area’ comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services. This position is responsible for assisting the Chiropractor in the examination and treatment of patients, in a manner that promotes quality patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • One-year experience in a medical office, chiropractic clinic, or customer service role.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and EHR programs.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Able to obtain BLS/CPR certification within three months of hire date, if not already certified.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and be insurable.
  • Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.
  • Able and willing to travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or other clinical training.
  • Associates degree.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638: Indian Self-Determination Act.
  • One-year experience working with Native Americans or Native American organization

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and equipment.
  • Assist patients before and after chiropractic treatments.
  • Escort patients to examination or treatment areas.
  • Educate patients on prescribed exercises, stretches, and wellness programs as directed by the chiropractor.
  • Monitor patient comfort and report concerns to the chiropractor.
  • Schedule appointments and manage calendars.
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries.
  • Maintain patient records and update medical information.
  • Verify insurance information and process billing paperwork.
  • Collect payments and maintain financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy and healthcare regulations.
  • Clean and sanitize treatment areas and equipment.
  • Manage inventory and order office supplies.
  • Assist with marketing activities, patient outreach, and retention programs.
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming clinic environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
