About The Position

Performs daily physical and routine general labor activities such as chip spinning. This role involves operating machinery, handling materials, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment. The Chip Spinner will reclaim cutting and lubricating oils, separate materials, and accurately record processed chips and shavings. Adherence to all safety procedures and completion of necessary paperwork are essential.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor.

  • Ability to recognize and sort materials.
  • Ability to operate machinery.
  • Willingness to work overtime to meet tight deadlines.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Previous general labor experience in a shop environment preferred.
  • Experience operating a forklift/pallet jack.
  • Ability to stand and reach for the duration of a shift (8-10 hours).
  • Ability to occasionally walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.
  • Ability to perform repetitive or short-cycles work.
  • Ability to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Understanding and observation of all necessary safety procedures (safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, machine interlocks, lifting guidelines, etc.).
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or U.S. national) due to ITAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a forklift or pallet jack.
  • Load and unload materials, parts, or products onto or from pallets, skids, conveyors, or trucks.
  • Reclaim cutting and lubricating oils from chip spinning equipment by placing chips into a centrifugal separator.
  • Remove metal chips and shavings from surfaces of chip spinning machines and wipe surfaces to remove excess oil.
  • Separate dissimilar materials and place them into their specified containers.
  • Accurately weigh and record processed metal chips and shavings.
  • Observe all necessary safety procedures (safety glasses, shoes, ear protection, gloves, lifting guidelines, interlocks, etc.).
  • Complete all necessary and required paperwork (i.e., tags).
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the assigned work area.
  • Perform additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by the department supervisor.
