The location in Port Melon, British Columbia, Canada, is seeking talent to fill the position of Chip plant clean up. This job is full-time temporary.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a chip plant and operating equipment for the plant
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Physically fit
  • Work in dusty environments
  • Ability to operate equipment and tools such as Bob Cat Skid Steer, Ditch Witch, Hand Tools, Come-Along, Line Winch, Air Wands, and Chain Saws
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to adhere to all safety policies and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Completion of pre-employment screening processes, reference check, prior work verification.
  • Ability to make it to and from work on a daily basis
  • Positive work ethic
  • Ability to work and communicate successfully in a team environment, with minimal supervision.
  • Adaptability to various work assignments and changing conditions is essential.
  • Must be able to recognize issues with equipment and follow through with reporting and ensuring repairs have been completed.
  • Responsible individuals, with a commitment to workplace safety and quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Having a high school diploma or equivalent is beneficial.
  • First Aid Certified is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license is highly preferred.
  • Valid first aid level 3 certificate or willingness to be put through the course will be given priority in hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-job equipment inspection
  • Do all aspects of job safely.
  • Use chainsaw
  • Assist other workers in area
  • Clean all areas of the Chip Plant
  • Perform Fire Watch as required during and following Hot Work
  • All other duties requested by management.
