About The Position

Star Service is seeking an experienced Chiller Technician to join our Houston team. In this role, you will service, install, maintain, diagnose, and repair commercial and industrial chiller systems for a diverse customer base across the Greater Houston market. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience servicing and maintaining commercial and industrial chiller systems preferred
  • EPA Universal Certification required
  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience servicing major chiller manufacturers such as Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, Mitsubishi, and Johnson Controls
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong teamwork and communication
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor
  • Ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, and work in industrial and commercial environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with centrifugal, screw, and scroll chillers
  • Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and controls
  • Factory training certifications from major OEMs
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience with VFDs, cooling towers, pumps, and hydronic systems

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, service, and repairs on air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, and refrigerant-related issues
  • Conduct equipment startups, shutdowns, commissioning activities, and performance testing
  • Service and maintain centrifugal, screw, and scroll chiller systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Complete detailed service reports, documentation, and repair recommendations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and industry best practices
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment condition, repair options, and maintenance recommendations
  • Support emergency service calls and participate in an on-call rotation as needed
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians, service managers, and customers to deliver exceptional service
