About The Position

This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of large-scale chiller systems and related equipment. The Chiller Technician II performs skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, with a primary focus on chiller systems. This role involves diagnosing and troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring the efficient operation of building environmental control systems. The technician will work independently and as part of a team to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for students and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of large-scale chiller systems.
  • Valid Nevada State HVAC license.
  • Valid EPA Universal Certification.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems related to chillers.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC system problems.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to HVAC work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including confined spaces and heights.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Additional certifications in HVAC or related fields.
  • Experience in a school district or similar large facility environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, with a primary focus on chiller systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues in chiller systems and associated equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and other related HVAC components.
  • Repair and replace parts such as compressors, motors, valves, and control components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to perform installations and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency service calls to address critical system failures.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Assist in the training and guidance of lower-level technicians.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
