About The Position

Flo-Rite Mechanical is a premier, rapidly growing commercial mechanical contractor serving the San Antonio region. We are expanding our heavy mechanical division and seeking a senior-level Chiller and Heavy Equipment Mechanic to serve as a technical anchor for our field operations. Requirements

  • 5+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience in heavy commercial/industrial HVAC, with a verifiable focus on centrifugal, screw, and/or scroll chiller platforms (e.g., York, Trane, Carrier, Daikin).
  • Active EPA Universal certification (Required).
  • Comprehensive mastery of the refrigeration cycle, variable frequency drives (VFDs), basic Building Automation Systems (BAS) interfaces, and fluid hydronics.
  • A clean driving record.
  • A commitment to passing pre-employment screening.
  • A structured, team-first approach to field communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Active HVAC Trade School certifications or TDLR mechanical licenses are highly prioritized.

Responsibilities

  • Execute full teardowns, rebuilds, tube brushing, oil analyses, and seasonal startups on large-scale centrifugals, screws, and scrolls—both air-cooled and water-cooled.
  • Isolate root causes fast using hydronic, thermodynamic, and electrical diagnostics to solve flow, pressure, and thermal transfer issues without guessing or swapping parts.
  • Manage jobs through internal field service management system (BuildOps), track asset history, log precise diagnostic readings, author clear quotes, and keep dispatch updated in real time.
  • Enforce strict Lock-Out Tag-Out, follow OSHA guidelines, and execute safe rigging and crane operations on critical job sites.
