About The Position

Chill/Freeze Stockers are responsible for stocking and straightening merchandise, as well as rotating and monitoring perishable products on the floor and in back stock. This role involves ensuring product freshness, managing expiration dates, adhering to company markdown guidelines, maintaining clear aisles, providing customer service, retrieving and storing carts, and loading and unloading trucks.

Requirements

  • Ability to ensure safe retrieval of merchandise and keep people out of fall-danger zone.
  • Ability to speak and receive phone communications often.
  • Ability to use computer with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment.
  • Continuously standing, walking, reaching at/below shoulders.
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 10 pounds below waist.
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds at waist/chest.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.

  • A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Stock and straighten merchandise.
  • Rotate and monitor perishable products on the floor and in back stock.
  • Ensure product is fresh and not beyond expiration date.
  • Follow company markdown guidelines.
  • Clear and clean aisles.
  • Provide customer service.
  • Retrieve and store shopping carts.
  • Unload and load freight trucks using forklift and/or pallet jack, staging product pallets in assigned areas.
  • Follow merchandising standards and practices.
  • Align product, collect and return stray items, stock to maintain high product levels.
  • Communicate with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising plan and priorities.
  • Write lists of products to be brought from steel by forklift driver for stocking.
  • Use box knife to cut boxes for display/accessibility of product and to cut twine or shrink-wrap from pallet.
  • Wrap or tie and tag pallets to be returned to steel.
  • Stock opened cases on shelves.
  • Move and position pallets of merchandise using manual pallet jack.
  • Stack product from partial pallets onto full pallets.
  • Mark product number on unmarked items using marking gun.
  • Observe and ensure correct product signage.
  • Set up display models, assembling as necessary.
  • Modify displays for safe handling by customers, e.g., bolting heavy equipment, taping blade edges.
  • Follow all safety and security procedures.
  • Pull loose cardboard and slip-sheets from floor.
  • Operate cardboard baler and trash compactor.
  • Rewrap loose product using shrink-wrap.
  • Provide prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Help customers load large items into their cart, direct customers to products, and relate product knowledge.
  • Assist customers in getting product to their vehicle and loading product into vehicle.
  • Retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot and return them to their staging area.
  • Assist with front end duties as necessary.
  • Assist in other departments of the store as necessary.
  • Operate manual pallet jack, wheeled carts, trash compactor, cardboard baler, product marking gun, shrink wrap machine, wrench, screwdriver, pliers, box knife.
  • Occasionally operate cash register, handheld scanners, computer, fax machine, phone, printer.
  • Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.
