About The Position

Under the direction of the Preschool Director and in accordance with the general policies, goals and standards established by the YMCA of South Palm Beach County, the Child Development Counselor is responsible for providing a nurturing, well-supervised, engaging and safe environment for children. Must be 16 years at time of hire.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years at time of hire
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, core values and goals of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County
  • Demonstrate an ability to work effectively with people and be a team member.
  • Minimum of one year experience with young children.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with parents, children, staff, and director.
  • The ability to carry out engaging activities each day
  • The ability to interact with children in a positive manner
  • Must complete successful criminal background check and drug screen

Responsibilities

  • Notify the Child Development leader in the event of an absence
  • Attend organized staff meetings
  • Together with other child development staff, create activities to keep children active and engaged.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and in order in the room
  • Participate in cleaning the room and minimal cleaning in the bathroom
  • Interact with other children while on the playground
