About The Position

Counseling Works is a thriving group private practice with four offices across the southwest Chicago suburbs. We’re an established practice with a genuine focus on the growth and wellbeing of our clinicians. We’re adding an experienced children’s therapist to a collaborative, supportive team that values openness, career development, and positive work-life balance. This position is designed for an experienced clinician who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and teens. You’ll carry a caseload of individual and family therapy clients across this demographic, with full administrative support so you can focus on clinical care.

Requirements

  • Illinois license required (active or actively in pursuit): LPC, LCPC, LSW, LCSW, LMFT, AMFT, PsyD, or PhD
  • Master’s degree required (MEd, MSW, or MA)
  • Minimum 1 year of direct clinical experience working with children, adolescents, or teens
  • Minimum one evening shift per week required
  • Minimum one weekend shift per week required (minimum one-year commitment)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior private practice experience is a plus but not required
  • Play therapy
  • ADHD or autism spectrum
  • Childhood or adolescent trauma
  • School-based counseling or school system collaboration
  • Bring a specialty or modality relevant to younger populations (play therapy, ADHD, autism, trauma)
  • Are comfortable working collaboratively with parents, guardians, and school systems
  • Thrive with autonomy and also value team collaboration
  • Are organized, timely, and accurate with documentation and billing
  • Want to grow a caseload without building a practice from scratch

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and/or family therapy sessions for children, adolescents, and teens
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments and formulate DSM-5 diagnoses
  • Develop, implement, and maintain individualized treatment plans
  • Coordinate care with family members, school systems, and outside providers when clinically appropriate
  • Collaborate with intake, leadership, and care coordination teams
  • Contribute to children’s specialty outreach and marketing initiatives
