About The Position

The Center for Human Development (CHD) is seeking an experienced Children’s Services Assistant at its Grace House program in Northampton. Grace House is a residential treatment program for mothers in early recovery. The program can house up to fourteen families in a collective living environment, where they share space and resources in an effort to build a recovery community and encourage peaceful living. As a therapeutic setting, we strive to provide each family with a safe, nurturing environment where mothers and their children can experience success.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent AND an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (or a related area of study) OR a minimum of two years of professional experience working in Education or Human Service-related fields.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work with computers.
Must pass a background screening process, including a CORI and motor vehicle record check.
Ability to transport residents in matters related to service delivery using an agency van or personal vehicle as needed.

Knowledge in the recovery field preferred.

Responsibilities

Supporting both mothers and their children within our therapeutic community.
Assisting with running groups, childcare, and activities for children.
Facilitating parenting groups using various modalities (including the Nurturing Program).
Working directly with parents and children to facilitate healthy growth.
Providing vital case management services (coordinating with schools, DCF, Horizons, WIC, and medical providers).
Assisting with planning community outings.
Managing behavior through programmatic structure.
Participating in an on-call rotation as needed.
