About The Position

Sticky Fingers Cooking® of Austin is looking to hire part-time Chef Instructors in South & Central Austin to help us Cultivate COOLinary Curiosity in Kids®! This role involves working in local schools, bringing a provided cooking kit to the children. Instructors lead 60-minute healthy and engaging cooking enrichment classes for students aged 3-18, teaching basic kitchen skills, nutrition, and the cultural context of recipes. The role requires independent shopping for fresh ingredients and preparing for instruction by reviewing weekly curricula. The goal is to teach children healthy food habits that will last a lifetime.

Requirements

Experience working with kids of varying ages is REQUIRED.
Availability at least 2 days a week (Monday - Friday, between 2-5 pm).
Commitment to teaching full sessions (ranging from 6-12 weeks).
Ability to manage and engage a group of 8-14 children.
Upon hire, employees will be required to pass a fingerprint background check.
Access to reliable transportation.
Ability to communicate with our team in a timely manner.
Punctual and reliable.
ServSafe Food Handler Certification (can obtain before teaching).

Responsibilities

Lead 60-minute healthy and engaging cooking enrichment classes for students aged 3-18.
Teach basic kitchen skills including washing, cutting, grating, stirring, measuring, and nutrition.
Educate children on the history, geography, and language behind each recipe.
Create creative recipes and teach children about new ingredients and healthy foods from around the world.
Review weekly class curricula and prepare for instruction.
Shop independently for fresh ingredients.
Manage and engage a group of 8-14 children.
Communicate with the team in a timely manner.
Be punctual and reliable.
