Job Summary
Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services (PRCS) is seeking qualified candidates for the Childcare Worker position. This position, under the general supervision of the assigned supervisor, involves providing childcare and supporting a day care program for the County at a designated site. Depending on the assignment and location, the role assists in the planning and implementation of educational and recreational programs and activities; maintains effective communication with children, parents, and staff; aids students with toiletry needs, transitional periods, arts and crafts, and outdoor play; conducts research for lesson plans; observes safety concerns such as unlatched doors and sharp objects; adheres to adult/child ratios; prepares meals and snacks; sanitizes toys and food areas; and assists with the sign-in/sign-out process and record maintenance. We are currently hiring for the following location(s): Dulles South Recreation & Community Center, South Riding, VA

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• six (6) months of program experience with children
• Must undergo pre-employment fingerprinting and Child Protective Services (CPS) background checks.
• Pass TB test within 30 days of hire and each year thereafter.
• Must annually complete a sworn disclosure statement or affirmation disclosing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges.
• First Aid/CPR certifications prior to hire or immediately upon hire.
• Have or take OSHA (Bloodborne pathogens) and Daily Health Check training within 30 days of hire; MAT training within 90 days of hire; and complete County e-learning and other training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manages children's behaviors, communication, and participation in program activities; upholds the necessary staff-to-student ratios; and adheres to the established policies and procedures for supervision, interactions, and disciplinary actions.
• Aids in the planning and execution of educational and recreational activities for children in Day Care; provides support, encouragement, and interaction with the children; addresses their personal care requirements; and organizes as well as maintains equipment, supplies, and meal items.
• Interacts with parents, staff, and individuals associated with the school site.
• Implements and maintains health and safety protocols in the children's program facility.
• Watches and evaluates the developmental advancement of children; creates classroom routines and activities; complies with established playground supervision guidelines; and manages behavioral issues and emergencies.
• May undertake other vital job functions that pertain to the position and the assigned department.
