About The Position

The Learning Center Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment while promoting children's growth in all developmental areas. The Teacher serves as the primary classroom leader and works collaboratively with all staff and families. Monitors children's safety and well-being through regular head counts and promptly report injuries, illnesses, suspected abuse, safety concerns, or licensing violations. Plans and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum, lesson plans, and classroom activities that support each child's growth and learning needs. Creates and maintains an engaging, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that promotes learning and exploration. Observes and documents children's progress, support developmental assessments, and encourage social-emotional growth, independence, and positive behavior. Builds positive relationships with children and families while communicating daily activities, developmental milestones, concerns, and maintaining confidentiality. Maintains accurate attendance, incident reports, developmental records, and required documentation using approved systems and processes. Ensures a clean, safe, and sanitary classroom environment by following health and sanitation procedures and monitoring supplies, toys, and equipment. Demonstrates classroom leadership and professionalism by coaching Assistant Childcare Teachers, participating in required training and meetings, following the chain of command, maintaining dependable attendance, and adapting to operational needs. Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of department and organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Basic First Aid and CPR (Child and Infant) Heartsaver certification or BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Completion of 24-hours of Arizona Registry-approved early childhood education training
  • Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Knowledge of Arizona Licensing Regulations, DES requirements, and developmentally appropriate practices

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field
  • One year of childcare experience
  • Child Development Associate (CDA)
