About The Position

Healthy Kids Programs is seeking energetic, passionate Childcare Teachers for their Summer Camp to guide campers through a summer filled with fun, friendship, and unforgettable adventures. This role offers the opportunity to lead, inspire, and create lifelong memories for children while being part of a supportive, award-winning team. The position is part-time, non-exempt, with shifts between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, during the summer. There is potential for continued employment beyond the summer with different hours. The role is located at Stuart Elementary School in Stuart, VA, and reports to the Summer Camp Director. The pay rate is $15.50–$17.00 per hour, based on experience.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must meet one of the Virginia-Approved Qualification Pathways (detailed in the job description)
  • Must be able to pass a Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) background check
  • Must be medically cleared to perform all job duties and free of communicable diseases, including tuberculosis (TB)
  • Demonstrates a warm, friendly, and positive attitude with strong interpersonal skills when working with children, parents, and team members
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism; dependable and punctual
  • Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs., and actively engage in all activities required to safely supervise and keep up with children

Responsibilities

  • Support site director with daily camp activities, games, hands-on projects, and special events, including arts & crafts and themed activities
  • Create a positive, inclusive environment where campers feel supported, encouraged, and engaged
  • Ensure camper safety and follow all state guidelines, Healthy Kids policies, and host school policies
  • Communicate daily with families using the Playground App and provide support during parent orientations
  • Support community outreach to promote the program and engage prospective families
  • Lead by example with enthusiasm, positivity, and a can-do attitude
