About The Position

The Old Colony YMCA is seeking a fun, energetic, caring, and dependable Assistant Teacher to join its Early Learning Center team. The Assistant Teacher supports Lead Teachers in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children, while promoting the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Requirements

• Understanding of child development and willingness to learn.
• Must be patient, dependable, enthusiastic, and a team player.
• Must meet all applicable EEC background check, training, and health and safety requirements.
• Must be flexible with scheduling. Operating hours are Monday-Friday, 6:45 AM–5:30 PM.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children preferred.
• EEC Assistant Teacher qualifications or certification preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teachers with daily classroom activities, routines, and age-appropriate curriculum.
• Provide a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all children.
• Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through play and hands-on learning.
• Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and other daily care needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom while following Massachusetts EEC regulations and YMCA policies.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
• Work collaboratively with classroom staff and assist in other classrooms as needed.
