About The Position

The teacher assistant is a member of the teaching team who supports the head teacher in providing care and education for an assigned group of children. The role helps implement The Creative Curriculum and its assessment and documentation system; assists with supervising children and communicating with parents; and works with the team to provide a healthy, safe environment that encourages social-emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development based on the Reggio Approach. When the head teacher is absent, the teacher assistant assumes all of the head teacher’s duties.

Requirements

• CDA credential.
• Willingness to start a program to obtain an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education within six months of employment.
• Must acquire 20 hours of professional development annually.

Nice To Haves

• Some teaching experience in an early childhood program is preferred.
• An Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education is a plus.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.
• NAEYC membership is preferred.

• Assume all duties of the head teacher when the head teacher is absent.
