About The Position

Health Solutions is a premier wellness center focused on whole-person care. With over 400 employees in Southern Colorado, you would be joining a mighty team of support and administrative staff, case managers, clinicians, physicians, nurses, and others in our efforts to improve the health and well-being of our community. We’re hiring a Primary Teacher (Lead) to join our Childcare team and become an active member at Health Solutions. This position is located with the Family Center program at 1591 Taos Road in Pueblo. Primary Teachers are assigned responsibility for a single group of children and to implement and provide a positive learning environment for children to facilitate children's mental, physical, social, and emotional development.

Requirements

  • Must be at least nineteen years of age.
  • A current Child Development Associate Credential CDA. or an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or possess a current Early Childhood Professional Credential Level II or higher; or a higher degree from an accredited college or university with major study in Child Development, Child Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Educational Leadership and Administration, Elementary Education, Family and Human Development, Family Studies or Special Education
  • Must work directly under the supervision of the Center Supervisor as required by licensing rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with children and adults from a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, who are experiencing crisis situations
  • Knowledgeable regarding behavioral health, physical health, and child serving systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to sit on the floor, walk, bend, stand, sit
  • Must already be authorized to work in the US; sponsorships not available.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participating in all scheduled Team meetings and trainings as required
  • Planning a comprehensive, multi-cultural curriculum to promote the growth and development of all children in their classroom
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of all children
  • Responsible for timely completion of Lesson Plans, Anecdotal Notes, Assessment Data, and Tracking and Developmental Screenings
  • Responsible for the planning and development of each child’s individual goals to enhance their learning and development
  • Actively participate in planned parent communication regularly.
  • Track daily attendance, transitions of children and staff, and feeding/meals in the agency-supplied classroom management platform
  • Maintains current knowledge of the center's emergency procedures and able to carry out emergency preparedness, fire, and tornado drills regularly
  • Responsible for maintaining credentials required for the position
  • Adheres to all health, safety, and food handling and sanitation requirements for feeding/meal servicing.
  • Provides a developmentally appropriate, healthy, and safe learning environment for all children
  • Model and practice developmentally appropriate behavior when working with children, families, and staff.
  • Responsible for the preparation of materials for educational activities
  • Responsible for sanitizing all toys and equipment utilized in their classroom or playground, and laundering all linens associated with their classroom items
  • Teach and participate in diapering and/or toileting for children
  • Participate in feeding/mealtimes with the children
  • Responsible for constant and attentive supervision of all children in care
  • Flexibility to work with all ages of children from infants to 16 years of age
  • Responsible for handling emergencies such as first aid, parent contacts, etc
  • Following all policies and procedures of Health Solutions
  • Following all Colorado Childcare and Health Department Rules and Regulations
  • Performing other job-related duties assigned by the Center Supervisor or his/her designee
