About The Position

This position is for a Childcare Center Classroom Floater with part-time hours from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The role involves planning and implementing daily learning activities, nurturing children, managing the classroom environment, and establishing supportive relationships with children and parents. The floater will implement developmentally appropriate routines and curriculum for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The position also includes coordinating community resources, supporting the program's philosophy of parental involvement, overseeing classroom cleanup, following universal precautions, and assisting children with transitions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • MUST have CDA Infant/Toddler or FCCPC Birth to Five (for Option 1 pay)
  • DCF 45 Childcare hours, Part 1 & 2 completed (for Option 2 pay)
  • Substitute will be hired with an 18-month contingency to take courses and complete CDA courses
  • Red Cross First Aid & CPR certificate
  • Certificate of good health
  • Completed TB test
  • Fingerprints for level 2 criminal background check
  • Mandatory drug test

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement individualized, developmentally appropriate, nurturing care for children in a center-based setting
  • Coordinate use of community resources to enrich the learning environment
  • Support program philosophy that parents are the primary educators and nurturers of their children
  • Enhance the relationship of parents and their children by encouraging parent participation
  • Oversee and assist with classroom cleanup and follow universal precautions daily
  • Assist children in transitioning beginning and end of each day and during field trips
  • Maintain program standards regarding confidentiality and professional boundaries
