About The Position

Assist in providing quality childcare in a nurturing, safe environment using developmentally appropriate curriculum. This role is for before and after school care for preschool children. The Chandler Unified School District has been recognized by Niche.com as the Best School District in AZ for 2026. The position is part-time or full-time, with a work calendar from July 6, 2026, to May 21, 2027, totaling 212 work days and 6 paid holidays, resulting in 218 total paid days. New hires may receive compensation for relevant experience and education, up to a maximum of 5%.

Requirements

Minimum 6 months of experience working with children.
Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer and related software.
Satisfactory criminal background check.
Negative TB test required upon hire.
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent desired.

Responsibilities

Supervise children in the before and after school program, including play periods, meal times, field trips, bathroom breaks, assemblies, and emergency drills.
Prepare lesson plans and instruct children with an age-appropriate curriculum.
Develop and create bulletin boards, signs, borders, and classroom displays.
Assist students with various physical, emotional, and educational needs.
Provide guidance and direction to students regarding appropriate behavior and social skills.
Alert the supervisor to any problem or special information about a student.
Communicate with parents on student progress, behaviors, issues, and outcomes.
Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information.
Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
Keep educational materials, equipment, and the general room environment neat, safe, and clean.
Attend all staff training sessions, meetings, and programs.
Accept responsibility for students' well-being and safety while they are in the employee's care.
Be alert to and report the possibility of any substance use, child abuse, or dangerous situation based upon daily observation.
Operate and care for the school district's equipment properly.
Follow district policies as outlined.
Perform all duties safely and prudently as directed by supervisors.
Participate in a minimum of 18 training hours per year.
Maintain current CPR/First Aid Certification as required by the program.
