About The Position

The Childcare Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing childcare programs and services. This includes after-school programs, summer camps, and other youth-focused programs. The position ensures the delivery of safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate childcare in alignment with departmental goals and community needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Director’s Credential through Florida Department of Children and Families required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in childcare or youth programming, with one (1) year in a supervisory role.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
  • Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate recreational activities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Class C with passenger endorsement driver’s license is required within six (6) months of hire.
  • Ability to physically participate in all program activities.
  • Ability to communicate in both written and oral forms.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, program participants, and the general public.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Recreation, Child Development, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement structured recreational and educational childcare programs for school age children through middle school age.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise part-time and full-time childcare staff, contractors, and volunteers.
  • Develop weekly lesson plans, activity schedules, and special event calendars pertaining to children's activities.
  • Ensure all childcare operations comply with applicable health and safety standards, licensing requirements, and department policies.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child’s progress, behavior, and program updates.
  • Manage program registration, program payment, attendance records, incident reports, and daily sign-in/out procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain program supplies, equipment, and facility cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with other staff and departments to support community-wide events and initiatives.
  • Assist with budget tracking, purchasing, and program evaluations.
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents with professionalism and in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Assist with front desk operations, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
