About The Position

The Learning Experience is seeking a dependable, organized, and experienced Cook to join our growing team at our brand-new Cimarron Hills location in Colorado Springs! We are looking for someone who takes pride in preparing meals for young children while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, organization, and reliability. This position is ideal for someone with previous kitchen, school nutrition, childcare, cafeteria, restaurant, school cook, daycare cook, or food service experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and understands the importance of consistency and attendance.

Requirements

  • Previous cooking, kitchen, cafeteria, restaurant, or childcare food service experience required
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be dependable and maintain strong attendance
  • Comfortable using computers for ordering and inventory
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • ServSafe knowledge or certification preferred (Must be obtained before starting the position)

Responsibilities

  • Serve: Morning Snack: 7:00 AM – 8:30 AM
  • Serve: Lunch: 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM
  • Serve: Afternoon Snack: 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and sanitation at all times
  • Plan, prepare, and cook healthy and delicious meals for preschool children that meet proper nutritional requirements
  • Maintain and track food allergies for each child in our center, ensuring their safety, and communicate any identified allergies to teachers daily with every food delivery
  • Follow proper food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures to ensure food is stored properly
  • Collaborate with the Center Leadership team to purchase all necessary food and supplies and keep inventory records as local and state agencies require
  • Provide excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards parents and children, listen, and communicate effectively
  • Be flexible and adaptable to the daily business needs of a childcare center
  • Follow food safety guidelines and maintain temperature logs
  • Label and rotate food using FIFO (First In, First Out)
  • Receive and inspect US Foods deliveries every Monday
  • Reconcile shortages, damaged goods, and delivery discrepancies
  • Complete weekly food orders using the computer system every Friday before end of shift
  • Track/conduct weekly inventory and maintain organized food storage
  • Lift and put away inventory deliveries up to 50 pounds
  • Support licensing compliance and health & safety procedures
