About The Position

Chambliss Center for Children is hiring a part-time Childcare Assistant at Volunteer Community School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The assistant works alongside classroom teachers to care for and engage children in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. No childcare experience is required; the role is suited to someone who is patient, compassionate, dependable, and enjoys helping children learn and grow.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 1:30–5:30 p.m. The listed location is Volunteer Community School, 506 Spears Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37405. Starting pay is $11 with a high school education and little experience, $13 with an ECE Certificate, or $15 with an associate degree.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to pass a fingerprint background check.
• Reliable, friendly, patient, and good with children.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with children in a group setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and play with children.
• Help keep classrooms safe, clean, and organized.
• Support teachers and step in where needed.
• Help children finish their day in a calm, positive way.
