About The Position

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Childcare Assistant Teacher for its Growing Up At Obici childcare center in Suffolk, Virginia. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, for 40 hours per week. The Assistant Teacher uses knowledge of developmental early childhood methods to assist the teacher in caring for and supporting the learning of children. The role includes developing lesson plans while following the curriculum and assisting with the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. The position offers an opportunity to contribute creatively to children’s early years in a professional environment that supports families and the workplace.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of childcare experience.
Obtain a Food Service Certification within 90 days of hire.
Obtain American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) RQI certification within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

College-level coursework in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, or psychology, or completion of a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA).
Driver’s license.

Responsibilities
