About The Position

Under the direction of the Women Center Director, the Childbirth Educator is responsible for creating and implementing programs that will facilitate patient and staff education, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives; in order to provide and ensure optimal health care outcomes in accordance with current accepted evidence based practice.

Requirements

Current & active RN licensure in state of Florida.
BLS required at time of hire; ACLS, NRP (or obtain within 90 days of employment)
Associates required.
AWHONN Instructor required
Experience in teaching Childbirth and Parenting Classes.
Current Certification from an approved Childbirth Affiliation, Current Certification from an approved Lactation Affiliation/Board Certified Lactation Consultant Required
Maternal Child Health clinical expertise Required.
Communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills and customer service skills required.

Nice To Haves

BSN or Master’s degree preferred or on track to obtain BSN.
Minimum of 2-5 years acute care experience in clinical specialty preferred.
Teaching Experience Preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee and is responsible for the childbirth, parenting curriculum, lactation services, and support groups.
Assist families as the Birth Designer in order to provide a unique, personalized birthing experience designed just for the Mother to be, and support person.
Oversees unit based education including orientation process and ongoing unit based education and competencies and participates in hospital wide education.
Focused on implementing and supporting strategies to drive excellence in patient and family experience at all points of service.
Other duties as assigned.
