About The Position

Join YMCA Simcoe/Muskoka as a Child and Youth Program Instructor in Wasaga Beach as a Basketball/Soccer Coach. We are all about creating a safe and exciting environment for children, youth, and families while delivering top-notch, values-based programs and services. In this role, you will deliver structured Basketball/Soccer programs for children and youth, with the ability to modify programs to meet the age-appropriate and developmental needs of all participants. You will also coach and appropriately supervise children during scheduled programs, communicate with all participants and their caregivers, members, staff and volunteers, maintain records as needed, including attendance sheets, program area maintenance items and daily checklists, and work as part of a team to ensure a clean and well maintained facility at all times.

Requirements

  • A positive enthusiastic attitude
  • Experience coaching children in Basketball or Soccer
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Standard First Aid/CPR Certification ‘C’
  • Clear Police Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Must be able to work flexible hours based program needs
  • Willingness to participate in mandated training to be completed before or shortly after commencement of work including: AODA Training, Health & Safety Awareness Training, Bill 168 (Violence & Harassment in the Workplace) Training, PCI Compliance, WHMIS, Child Safeguarding Training

Nice To Haves

  • Current NCCP is considered an asset
  • Healthy Child Development training or experience working with children in a recreational setting is an asset

Responsibilities
