About The Position

Mesa County Department of Human Services is looking for a motivated worker to provide transportation services for children, youth and adults who are involved in the child welfare and adult protection system. The transportation specialist will make sure children, youth and at-risk adults arrive at their destination in a safe and timely manner. Requirements

Minimum age of 21 years old.
Hold a valid driver license with a clean driving record.
Maintain vehicle insurance at the required level per the HR policy.
Have a safe, reliable vehicle.
Undergo a background check.
High school diploma.
Knowledgeable of area roads and neighborhoods.
Polite and professional disposition.
Ability to remain calm when driving in a stressful situation.
Oral and written communication must be clear and effective.

Nice To Haves

Understand child safety laws pertaining to car seats.
Basic understanding of child behaviors.
Assist clients with unloading and loading.

Responsibilities

Coordinate with Social Case Workers who have clients in need of transportation to and from appointments.
Driving children and youth to therapy, medical appointments, school, family time and any other transportation needs.
Drive at-risk adults to therapy, medical appointments and any other needed appointments.
Utilize Mesa County Vehicle.
Assure vehicle is clean and gassed up.
Performs other duties as assigned.
