About The Position
The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a Child Welfare Supervisor for the Baton Rouge Region. The incumbent will primarily exercise direct supervision over a unit of first-line Child Welfare Specialists providing services in the CPS Program, aligning with the agency's mission and goals. This role is for individuals who are driven, collaborative, and ready to make an impact.
Requirements
- Six years of experience in child welfare; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR An advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus two years of experience in child welfare.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- A current driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).
Nice To Haves
- Experience substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for specialized supervision of staff assigned in the CPS Program.
- Assigning cases, assisting workers with on-going risk assessments and determinations of child safety.
- Locate placement resources; accompanying workers in the field, home visits, court appearances and provide case consultation for workers when necessary.
- Respond to court orders/inquires/requests from judges, attorneys and other court personnel.
- Provide on-going training for staff.
- Create a positive environment that promotes productivity in a safe comfortable, clean and well-organized workplace.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
