About The Position

This Child Welfare Supervisor position is located in the Morehouse Parish Child Welfare Office in Bastrop, LA. The role is crucial for supporting and monitoring staff performance, identifying necessary resources, and ensuring accountability. The incumbent will exercise direct supervision over staff responsible for court work, intake functions, and short-term care for families and children alleged to be abused or neglected. Requirements

  • Six years of experience in child welfare; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR An advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus two years of experience in child welfare.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A current driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).
  • Selected candidates must pass a Drug Test, Criminal Background check, State Central Registry check, and Louisiana State Police Sex Offender and Child Predator Registry check.

Nice To Haves

  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct line supervision to staff through supervisor conferences, case staffing, unit conferences, on-the-job training, and review of completed work assignments.
  • Determine work assignments, coordinate workflow and duty assignments of employees, and monitor work productivity and activity to assure compliance with Agency procedures and policies.
  • Attend appropriate Agency staffings, meetings, and training/conferences to carry out Agency policies and enhance skills development.
  • Work directly with clients, professionals, and community members who are upset and need clarification about a worker's intervention or Agency intervention in general.
  • Interview potential job applicants and recommend hiring to the next supervisory level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned for the smooth operation of the Department.
