About The Position
This position is for a Child Welfare Supervisor in the St. Mary Parish Child Welfare Office in Lafayette, LA. The incumbent in this position supervises a team of Foster Care, CPI and Family Services employees. Requirements
- Six years of experience in child welfare; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR An advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus two years of experience in child welfare.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- A current driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).
Nice To Haves
- Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision over a unit of first-line Child Welfare Specialists and assigned clerical/support staff providing services in the Foster Care, CPI, and Family Services programs in line with the above outlined agency mission and goals.
- Assigning cases, assisting workers with on-going risk assessments and determinations of child safety, locating foster homes and/or other placement resources, approving/authorizing placements and replacements of foster children, etc.
- Assessing cases eligible for Family Services intervention.
- Assists workers in identifying and locating services and resources to meet needs for individuals and families.
- Provides auxiliary supervisor for staff in all agency programs which requires a working knowledge of policies and procedures.
- Provides on-going training and staff development for workers.
- Communicates with executive management, advising of program trends/needs and individual case situations as necessary.
