About The Position

This vacancy is located in the East Baton Rouge Child Welfare Office in Baton Rouge, LA (Family Services Unit). This Child Welfare Supervisor is a crucial role that supports and monitors staff performance, identifies necessary resources, and ensures accountability. The incumbent of this position exercises direct supervision over the unit of Child Welfare Specialists providing services to children.

Requirements

• Six years of experience in child welfare; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR An advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus two years of experience in child welfare.
• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A current driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
• Must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).

Nice To Haves

• Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct line supervision to staff delivering specialized trauma-informed and family-centered services through supervisor conferences, direct on-the-job training, case staffing, review of case records and completed work assignments, individual staff assessment, unit meetings, etc.
• Manage and supervise case management team.
• Provide administrative expertise as required.
• Ensures the accuracy, content, and completeness of child case/family files.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal policies and practices.
• Maintains a close working relationship with public and private agencies involved in providing foster care services and/or support.
• Provides on-call supervisory consultation for Child Welfare staff during emergencies, including after hours and weekends.
• Coordinates community resources for the benefit of children served by the Family Services Program.
