About The Position

This position is for a Child Welfare Specialist within the Pathways to Launch program, which serves young adults aged 18-21 in extended foster care. The role involves managing a caseload, assisting young adults in developing and implementing transition plans, and providing reports on their progress. Specialists will help young adults develop skills, access resources, and secure stable housing. They will also build relationships with community resources, make referrals, and follow up to ensure services are appropriate. The position requires flexibility for crisis management, with potential for varied hours including evenings and weekends. Travel and client transportation are essential components of the job.

Requirements

  • Level I: Completion of 90 hours from an accredited college or university, OR 3 years of experience related to child welfare work, OR a combination of education and experience.
  • Level II: A bachelor's degree (in any field) to qualify; OR One year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
  • Level III: A Master's degree; OR a Bachelor's Degree plus one year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist; OR Two years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain required car insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience with transition-age Foster Care Youth.

Responsibilities

  • Manages caseload of young adults ages 18-21 participating in the Pathways to Launch extended foster care program within OK Successful Adulthood (OKSA).
  • Assists young adults in developing, implementing and updating a transition plan; Provides regular reports to an administrative review team on the progress of the transition plan.
  • Assists young adults in skill development, obtaining resources, and securing safe and stable housing.
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with community resources, which includes making referrals and follow-up to ensure the initiated services and supports are appropriate to meet the needs of the young adults.
  • Flexible schedule to be available for crisis management if necessary. Hours may vary and may include some evenings and weekends.
  • Position includes travel and client transportation.
