About The Position

This position is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. This opening is for the Oklahoma Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline, a 24/7/365 operation. This position is responsible for receiving and processing concerns alleging abuse or neglect made by the public to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline. Extensive training will be provided to new employees.

Requirements

  • Child Welfare Specialist, Level I: Completion of 90 hours from an accredited college or university, OR 3 years of experience related to child welfare work, OR A combination of education and experience.
  • Child Welfare Specialist, Level II: A bachelor's degree (in any field) to qualify, OR One year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
  • Child Welfare Specialist, Level III: A Master's degree, OR a Bachelors Degree plus one year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist, OR Two years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and must maintain required car insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Applicants who possess a Master's Degree in Social Work will be entitled to a salary incentive of an additional 5%.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and processing concerns alleging abuse or neglect made by the public to the Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline.
  • Screening and analyzing reports of suspected abuse, neglect, and threats to a child’s safety that are received by the 24 hour statewide Oklahoma Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline.
  • Assisting the caller with providing information regarding the alleged child abuse or neglect; interpreting what child abuse or neglect is to the caller; identifying possible child abuse or neglect; and gathering sufficient information to make decisions about the alleged abuse or neglect.
  • Documenting and processing reports received at the Hotline in the Child Abuse and Neglect Information System (KIDS); determining if the allegations require an emergency response and notifying district Child Welfare Services (CWS) personnel immediately when an emergency response is necessary.
