The DHS Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS), Child Welfare, is seeking candidates to fill the position of Child Welfare Services Case Manager Supervisor, reporting to a Child Welfare Services Administrator. This position is in McDonough, Henry County.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of job-related case management experience; or one (1) year of experience at lower level Child Welfare Svcs Case Mgr 3 (SSP072) or position equivalent.
  • Must have reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, a valid state-issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving history record and the ability to travel statewide.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license for work-related travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Behavioral Science degrees include but are not limited to the following: social science, psychology, sociology, child development, family studies, criminal justice, education, public health, public administration, nursing.
  • Case Management experience would include one or any combination of the following work responsibilities: assessments; home evaluations; staffing; work with individuals, families, groups organizations and/or communication of the goal of behavioral changes; work with child safety or child welfare; law enforcement experience in areas related to DFCS (e.g. family/domestic violence, investigations or interventions involving children, substance abuse or crimes against persons.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and plan work of assigned staff
  • Serve as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas
  • Access and record client and community resource information
  • Collect evidence, interviews witnesses, and prepare necessary reports according to rules and regulations, state and federal laws
  • Compile records and prepare reports; performs follow-up to determine the status of client's case
  • Conduct home-visit evaluations for information gathering to be used in assessments
  • Coordinate and monitor children in out-of-home placements and in-home interventions
  • Coordinate and monitor services, including comprehensive tracking of client's activities
  • Develop case plans that effectively utilize community resources to meet needs of individual custodial client
  • Identify placement resources for children within the foster care system
  • Initiate the legal process for guardianship, protective services, placement and/or adoption
  • Maintain required documentation and completes reports
  • Make immediate assessments regarding safety of clients and respond according to established protocol and policies
  • Perform initial investigations of protective services referrals to determine the appropriateness of protective services intervention
  • Work in collaboration with legal system to ensure safety and achieve desired outcomes
  • Review, approve/disapprove, or render decisions on casework being performed by staff
