About The Position

The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking candidates to fill the position of Child Welfare Services Case Supervisor (CRRU), reporting to the Regional Caregiver Recruitment and Retention Unit (CRRU) Administrator. This position is in Valdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia. The Caregiver Support Services Supervisor manages a caregiver support technician unit who provides direct support to foster, adoptive, and/or relative caregivers. Applicants must pass the standard agency testing protocol for the position in which they are hired in order to maintain the position. Although agency employees are authorized to telework temporarily, employees are subject to be called into the office as needed and upon request. This position will require the incumbent to be capable of working non-traditional hours and varying shifts. The position supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Supervises a social services unit that provides investigative and comprehensive case management for child abuse or neglect. Directs professional staff in delivery of services, sets unit goals, and regulates workloads in accordance with agency goals. Ensures that immediate and follow-up actions for at risk clients occur in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of job-related case management experience.
  • One (1) year of experience at lower level Child Welfare Svcs Case Mgr 3 (SSP072) or position equivalent.
  • Must have reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, a valid state-issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving history record and the ability to travel statewide.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license for work-related travel.

  • Case Management experience would include one or any combination of the following work responsibilities: assessments; home evaluations; staffing; work with individuals, families, groups organizations and/or communication of the goal of behavioral changes; work with child safety or child welfare; law enforcement experience in areas related to DFCS (e.g. family/domestic violence, investigations or interventions involving children, substance abuse or crimes against persons.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in behavioral science from an approved accredited college or university and twenty four (24) months of case management experience in a social services program of the Division of Family and Children Services or similar social services case management experience in a human services delivery program (child support, family/children services, juvenile justice, public health, mental health, military health care/morale, welfare and recreation, or comparable private social services agencies)
  • At least two years of experience in Caregiver Recruitment and Retention (Resource Development)
  • DFCS social services system knowledge (SHINES)
  • Highly organized and self-motivated
  • Knowledge of community and state resources available to children and families

Responsibilities

  • Directs professional staff in the delivery of services.
  • Establishes unit goals and expectations reflective of the Recruitment and Retention Plan.
  • Ensures Caregiver Support Technicians are connected with assigned caregivers within 48 hours of approval and within 24 hours of their first placement.
  • Ensures Caregivers Support Technicians conduct monthly visits with assigned caregivers, and that all contact narratives accurately reflect service and interventions provided.
  • Compiles and maintains a manual of resources available for caregivers – ensures such manuals are updated annually to reflect programs within the respective communities.
  • Participates in community support groups/networks to create, strengthen, and leverage partnerships.
  • Compiles monthly, quarterly, and annual reports of activities conducted by their assigned unit.
  • Regulates the workloads in accordance with agency goals.
  • Review cases and documentation for adherence to quality service provision for families.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining a case tracking system.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff.
