Minnesota State Mankato's Department of Social Work's Child Welfare Stipend Program (CWP) began in Spring 2005 with the BSSW Program and expanded to include the MSW program in FY13 through a direct contract with Mn DHS. In 2014, the BSSW program moved to direct departmental responsibility for all contractual obligations, including tracking graduates for up to three years post-graduation. The CWP aims to prepare BSSW and MSW graduates to work in public or tribal child welfare agencies across Minnesota by providing financial support to students each semester. The MSW and BSSW CWP tracks and supports students. The Child Welfare Program Student Support Coordinator is a twelve-month, full-time position responsible for implementing the federal and state-funded MSW and BSSW Title IV-E Child Welfare Program Training contract awarded by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
