About The Position

This position is located in Lawton, Oklahoma. The role involves paraprofessional work completing various Child Welfare case management activities. This includes assisting Child Welfare Specialists, clients, client families, and other interested parties. Responsibilities also include scheduling appointments, arranging transportation, coordinating referrals, assisting in problem resolution, and making home visits. The position requires interviewing clients, reporting findings, performing administrative support tasks, advising clients of available services, and assisting in case management. This may involve advocating for clients, maintaining communication, and assisting clients in achieving individualized service plans.

Requirements

  • Level I: Six months of experience in general office clerical work, providing care for children in a licensed day care facility, sales, or public contact work.
  • Level I: Or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting six months of technical or vocational training course work.
  • Level I: Or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting the completion of 15 semester hours from a college or university.
  • Level II: One year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services provider environment.
  • Level II: Or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting thirty semester hours of college for the required experience.
  • Level III: One year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services provider environment plus two additional years of clerical experience in a child welfare environment.
  • Level III: Or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting thirty semester hours of college for the required experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must maintain required car insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Completing various Child Welfare case management activities such as providing assistance to Child Welfare Specialists, clients, client families, and other interested parties.
  • Scheduling required appointments for doctor visits, family visitations, court appearances, and other venues; arranging or providing transportation for child(ren) and clients.
  • Coordinating referrals to other program areas, service providers, and the courts; assisting in problem resolution, and making home visits to assist CWS in assessing foster care placement as required by the court or individualized service plan.
  • Interviewing clients and their families and report findings, which may affect medical, financial, tribal affiliation, and psychiatric care and treatment plans, to assigned CWS.
  • Performing administrative support tasks and other related duties including general office duties, inputting case documentation, compiling social and economic data, scheduling, and assisting in meetings with clients, parents, and other interested parties.
  • Advising clients of available child welfare services and resources; providing specific program information to clients and may refer to community resources for assistance.
  • Assisting CWS in providing case management in client meetings, obtaining other services such as daycare or medical care; coordinating activities with law enforcement; courts, and other entities; providing reports to the courts.
  • Assisting in advocating for the client(s) in obtaining services; maintaining communication among the client, providers, client’s family, and others; may assist clients in achieving individualized service plans.
