Requirements

  • At least 16 years of age.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Mandatory Safety Training certifications within 45 days of hire.
  • Child Abuse Prevention training and the Y applicable training within 7 days of hire.
  • A desire to work with children in a developmental setting.
  • Ability to implement age-appropriate and developmental-appropriate program activities as directed.

Nice To Haves

  • Has 2+ years of experience in a Childcare setting is preferred
  • Has 2+ years’ experience in implementing age-appropriate activities is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying the Y’s commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responding to all members and community inquiries promptly.
  • Supervise multiple children and program activities.
  • Helps in creating a warm, friendly environment in which children and families can grow.
  • Follow all YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical response, behavior guidance, child abuse prevention, and emergency situations.
  • Apply sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making when addressing child, parent/guardian, or staff situations, escalating concerns to leadership as appropriate.
  • Effectively communicate with parents about their children and the program. Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents and staff.
  • Maintains program site and equipment, and program records.
  • Actively take part in fulfilling the Y mission.
  • Participates in staff meetings, training, and related events as required.
  • Fulfills any functions designated by the YMCA Administration.
