About The Position

The Kroc Center is looking for a Child Watch Attendant to provide safe, nurturing, and engaging care for children while their parents or guardians participate in Kroc programs and events. This role involves creating a positive, energetic environment for kids and developing activities that entertain, teach, and inspire. The position requires flexibility, and bilingual (English-Spanish) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. The Child Watch area operates weekdays from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm, and Saturdays from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. This part-time position works up to 18 hours per week, with a requirement to work two Saturdays per month. The pay rate is $16.28 per hour, with an additional $1.00 per hour shift differential for shifts worked from 4:00 PM Friday through Sunday.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience with children.
  • First Aid, CPR and AED Certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule.
  • Ability to address multiple projects in a timely manner while being responsive and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Exercise good judgment in personal actions.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office products, e-mail, and Internet.
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Patiently supervise multiple children.
  • Communicate effectively with children and parents / guardians.
  • Handle difficult situations with speed, tact and fairness.

  • Organize and execute age appropriate activities for children both individually and in groups.
  • Assist in the cleaning of toys and other materials used in the Fun Depot.
  • Maintain a safe environment for staff and participants.
  • Able to work nights and weekends.
  • Attend meetings as directed by supervisor.
