About The Position

LSSI is seeking a Child Therapist to provide therapeutic services to children in the Treatment Foster Care Program. This role involves working within an evidence-based, trauma-informed model to support children and their families, ensuring comprehensive assessments, individualized treatment plans, and direct therapeutic interventions. The therapist will collaborate with the TFC Team, clients, and families, and is responsible for accurate and timely documentation and Medicaid billing.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work or other related field required.
  • Background check clearance, both criminal and CANTS required.
  • Holds the licensed clinical social work (LCSW) credential or its equivalent or is eligible for a clinical license and working toward completion.
  • IM+ CANTS certified or available to participate in training and certification.
  • Training in Treatment Foster Care of Oregon (TFCO) model or available to participate in TCO training after hired.
  • Certified in trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy (TF-CTB) or available to participate in TF CTB training and certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, comprehensible manner, both verbally and in writing, including completing documentation in organization’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Knowledge of DSM-V and its applications.
  • Excellent organization, presentation and pc/computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with other related software.
  • Valid driver’s license, in good standing for the state of residency required.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Valid IL statutory minimum liability insurance coverage, bodily injury and property damage required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the full range of therapeutic services to children in the Treatment Foster Care Program in accordance with the integrated assessment, permanency plan, and assessed therapeutic needs of the child.
  • Provide services within the context of an evidence-based model of treatment foster care for children and their families, using a trauma-informed approach.
  • Provide comprehensive, Medicaid compliant, assessment of client’s therapeutic needs.
  • Develop individualized, Medicaid compliant, treatment plan, in conjunction with TFC Team, child and family, considering reasons for involvement in child welfare system, safety and risk concerns, and the permanency/step-down service plan.
  • Allow all members of the team to submit Medicaid billing.
  • Provide direct counseling and therapeutic services to children in the Treatment Foster Care Program as indicated by the assessment and treatment plan.
  • Utilize therapeutic interventions including supportive therapy, behavioral management, prosocial skill development, school-based interventions/support, and applying principles from social learning theory, developmental psychology, and trauma-informed care.
  • Complete and submit all required reports, documentation, and Medicaid billing accurately and timely.
  • Complete written session notes and reports detailing client’s progress as required by applicable policies/procedures and/or juvenile court.
  • Demonstrate professional, positive behavior and carry out responsibilities with integrity, treating clients, families, other LSSI workforce members, and collaborative organizations and/or individuals in a dignified, respectful, honest, and fair manner.
